Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo set a new record for the most international appearances in men's football by starting Portugal's Euro 2024 qualifier against Liechtenstein, which marked his 197th appearance for his country.


The previous record holder was Bader Al-Mutawa from Kuwait, who had made 196 international appearances.
